Get active!
For those new to Anderson and ACDP, welcome. This message comes from our chair person Lucy Owens about how to get active.
I know a lot of people that label themselves progressive do not label themselves as Democrats. I get it. I’m usually the first one to disagree with how big D Democrats handle things but I choose to chair the county party because it is the most effective and established way to make a difference on a local and national level. We will not get anywhere unless there are people with D’s after their names start winning locally.
Ways to take action:
1. Become a member and pay your annual ACDP dues ($25), or sign up for a small reoccurring monthly donation. Financial support helps us to have a physical headquarters space, support the community through charitable donations, support Democratic candidates, and so much more. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/acdp-members
2. Check with me to see if your precinct has a captain. If it doesn’t volunteer for that position so you can organize your community and join the executive committee of the county party which you gives you a vote on platforms, expenditures, events, etc. You could also put your name in to be on the executive committee of the State Dem Party and run to be part of the DNC and become a delegate.
3. Use the google form below to sign up for a caucus. A caucus is a group focused on a single (or closely related) issue or project. What are you passionate about, what do you want to work on? There is a group for that! And if there isn’t start one! https://docs.google.com/.../1FAIpQLSdGwC8Duh52EI.../viewform
4. Attend local school board and city council meetings. Listen and learn, and speak up.
5. Follow us on our group page and share in the discussion. https://www.facebook.com/groups/andersoncodems
